Notes from the everyday working life
For more than 15 years I spent my working life at the intersection of Product, Delivery and Customer Success. From early days in retail to consulting to building SCAYLE Commerce Engine I learned how powerful these functions become when they work as one (check "About the author" to get to know me better).
Right now I take a bit of time off. I spend more time with family and friends, explore a few private projects and actively look for the next challenge.
This pause created the space to start something new. A blog. I know, it feels a bit like the early 2000s again. Back then many people were writing online without much pressure. You wrote because you wanted to. I had a blog during that time, but I never managed to keep it consistent. I published a few posts, then life moved on and the habit faded. Now feels like a good moment to bring it back.
There are a few reasons for this.
First, I want to train my writing. Writing helps to think more clearly. When you write, you notice where your thoughts are weak or messy. You search for better examples and you check your assumptions. I have seen this again and again in my work. People who write down their ideas tend to deliver with more clarity because they remove the noise early on.
Second, AI has changed how writing works. I want to understand how to use it without losing my own voice. AI can help to create structure and speed up the process, but it only works well if you know what good looks like. And you only learn that by writing yourself. This topic deserves a full article later.
Third, I want to share what I picked up along the way. My career has been a mix of engineering, delivery, product, leadership and customer success. In all these areas there is a mix of craft and soft skills. Some things can be explained in a simple step by step pattern and others come from experience and observation. Quite openly, I have difficulties to understand what kind of information is worth sharing. I hope a blog helps me to pick out the topics that matter and put them into a usable form. And I hope this will help some of you too.
So what is this blog about?
It is a place where I share notes I have learned in my everyday work life. Parts of it will be very practical and parts will be more reflective. My goal is to give you insights you can use or at least compare with your own situation and experience. When I put together the first list of topics the following themes showed up.
Delivery and Execution Excellence
Projects fail far too often. Many of these failures are avoidable with the right preparation and mindset. Over the years I learned a set of habits that raise the odds of success and protect the team at the same time. These habits are small in theory but powerful in practice. I will break them down in future posts.
Successful Customer Success
A great product is important, but a strong customer success function keeps clients engaged, supports sales and at times covers for the product. It is not only about solving tickets. It is about driving value with clients, building trust and helping them grow with your platform. I want to write about what makes this function effective and provide ideas on how to design a system that keeps customers happy.
Bridging Product, Delivery and Customer Success
I had the rare chance to work in all three of these areas. Often they sit next to each other but do not work closely together. In my experience their alignment is a key factor for growth and efficiency. I plan to share thoughts on where these functions clash, how they can support each other and why a shared understanding of the client journey creates better outcomes.
Career and Executive Insights
I started as a young requirements engineer and over the years grew into a Managing Director role. Along the way I made many mistakes and learned from them. I want to write about the moments that shaped me, what helped me and what I would handle differently next time. Career growth is never a straight line. I hope sharing mine helps you with yours.
Look Behind the Scenes
Setting up this blog forced me to learn new tools, rethink my workflow and find a simple but effective setup. I also explore how AI can support research, editing and structure without taking over the writing. From time to time I will share what works for me, which tools I use and where I still struggle. This might help others who want to start their own workflow.
This blog is not a polished publication. It is more like a notebook in public. A place to collect ideas, refine them and share them. A place to practice writing. If this sounds interesting to you I am happy you are here. I hope the articles that follow give you something you can use in your own journey.
